Through the Official Gazette of such entity, an increase in the cost of public transportation in the State of Mexico was reported. The increase will be $2. This measure applies to both collective and mixed transportation.
This modification was announced last Friday, October 10 and will be applied starting this Wednesday, October 15.
All about the increase in the cost of public transportation in Edomex
As detailed in said document, the purpose of this increase is the “modernization and viability of the service, in conditions of safety, efficiency, quality and sustainability”.
In the case of public transportation , this increase will apply to all municipalities in the State of Mexico. With the increase, the minimum fare for public transportation will be $14 for the first 5 km, while each additional km will mean $0.25 extra.
In the mixed service the minimum fare will be $11 and $0.25 per additional km. This case will apply to the municipalities of: Amanalco, Donato Guerra, Ixtapan del Oro, Otzoloapan, Santo Tomás, Valle de Bravo, Villa de Allende, Zacazonapan, Almoloya de Alquisiras, Coatepec Harinas, Ixtapan de la Sal, Joquicingo, Malinalco, Ocuilan, Sultepec, Tenancingo, Texcaltitlán, Tonatico, Villa Guerrero, Zacualpan, Zumpahuacán, Amatepec, Luvianos, Tlatlaya, San Simón de Guerrero, Tejuílco and Temascaltepec.
In the case of children under 5 years of age, they will be exempt from paying fares. Senior citizens will continue to pay $12 initial fare as long as they present their INAPAM card.
In view of this increase, the concessionaires committed to implement several improvements in transportation such as:
- Keeping the units clean
- Keeping their insurance in force
- Train operators
- Renovate the transportation units
- Comply with physical-mechanical inspections
