It’s time for a quick getaway! Pulque and Fireflies in Tlaxcala is a one-day tour where you will learn about the pulque culture of this state, visit an archaeological zone and be dazzled by a sanctuary of glowing fireflies.
This trip will take place next Saturday, July 26th. At the moment this is the only date scheduled, so we recommend you to reserve your place as soon as possible.
The meeting point is at the Monumento a la Revolución, where you will board the Pulquibús. The first stop will be the Tecoaque Archaeological Zone, located in the municipality of Calpulalpan. Here you will explore what was once the city of Tetzcuco.
And the pulque tour begins!
At the end of this tour, you will visit the Pulmex pulque factory in Nanacamilpa and later you will arrive at Rancho San Isidro. This place has a large magueyal of 40 hectares, where you will take a walk.
Tlachiqueros will show you how pulque is extracted from the maguey and also explain some interesting facts about the fermentation process. Of course, you will be able to drink pulque and aguamiel for a complete experience. Some shots of mezcal, music and sweets will add to the tour.
In this place you will also find a great variety of dishes from the region: carnitas, barbacoa, antojitos and more. While you enjoy, there will be live music to liven up the feast. Please note that food is not included in the cost of the tour.
Continue the tour in an enchanted forest
When night falls it’s time to leave for the sanctuary! Before entering, you will perform the “forest ritual” and receive an amulet that will prepare you to see these wonderful insects.

How much does the Pulque and Fireflies tour in Tlaxcala cost?
The cost is $1,250 for teenagers and adults. Children pay $1,000. You can reserve with $750 per adult and $500 per child, and pay on the day of the tour.
