The Government of Mexico has confirmed that the Second National Drill 2025 will be held on September 19 at 12:00 noon central time.
The purpose of this exercise is for everyone to know how to act in case of an emergency, such as an earthquake, fire or any other natural disaster.
During the drill, millions of people throughout the country will practice evacuation and self-protection protocols.
It is an opportunity to learn, coordinate with family, neighbors or co-workers, and verify exit routes and safe meeting points. Remember: it is not about being scared, but about being prepared.
Where will the seismic alert sound this 2025?
The seismic alert will sound that day in the states with the highest seismic risk. If you live in any of these states, you will probably hear the alarm as if it were a real emergency:
- Mexico City
- Mexico State
- Chiapas
- Guerrero
- Michoacán
- Morelos
- Oaxaca
- Puebla
The activation of the alert will be part of the national drill and will serve to verify that the warning systems are working properly.
It will sound on your cell phone
For the first time in Mexico, a national cell phone alert test will be carried out. That same September 19 at 12:00 noon, more than 80 million active cell phones will receive a text message accompanied by an alert sound.
The goal is for all Mexicans to receive the alert in real time, regardless of where they are in the country. This innovation seeks to improve the population’s response to emergencies and allow each person to practice how to act in their immediate environment.
