This Friday, December 5, the FIFA World Cup draw was held. Check out the groups and some of the teams that will play in Mexico during the 2026 World Cup.
The first thing you should know is that this year’s edition will have 12 groups and the matches will be played in three different countries: Mexico, the United States and Canada.
As far as Mexico is concerned, it will have 13 matches, 10 of which are in the group stage.
Group A:
- Mexico
- South Africa
- Korea
- Winner of Ireland, Denmark, Czech Republic or North Macedonia.
Of the six games in this group, five will be played in Mexico. The opening game will be on June 11 at the Azteca Stadium and we will see Mexico vs. South Africa.
Group F:
- Netherlands
- Japan
- Tunisia
- Winner among Ukraine, Sweden, Poland, or Albania.
Two games will be held in Monterrey, Mexico.
Group H
- Spain
- Cape Verde
- Saudi Arabia
- Uruguay
One match will be in Guadalajara, Mexico
Group K
- Portugal
- Winner between Jamaica D. R. of Congo or New Caledonia
- Uzbekistan
- Colombia
Two matches of this group will be played in Mexico (one in Guadalajara and one in CDMX).
Which teams will play in Mexico during the 2026 World Cup?
On Saturday, December 6, the official schedule will be announced and it will be defined which teams will play in each city of Mexico. For now, the opening match at the Azteca Stadium on June 11, 2026 (Mexico vs. South Africa) has been confirmed.
It has also been confirmed that the Mexico vs. Korea match will be held in Guadalajara on June 18.
Regarding the teams that are in the playoffs, the games that will define their pass to the 2026 World Cup will be held in March in Guadalajara and Monterrey.
