If you use Metro Line 2, take precautions because there will be closures at Mexico City Metro stations. The Portales and Nativitas stations will be temporarily closed for renovation work, which will affect operations this weekend and in the coming days.
The closure will begin on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 10:00 p.m. and will continue until further notice. This means you will not be able to board or exit at these stations during that period, so it is advisable to plan alternative routes now.
Here’s how Metro Line 2 will operate
On Friday, May 1, Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3, 2026, service on Line 2 will be divided into two sections:
- From Tasqueña to Xola
- From Cuatro Caminos to Pino Suárez
To cover the affected section, RTP buses will be available to help passengers continue their journey between the closed stations. This alternative will be essential if you need to travel through that part of the line.
In addition, the Metro will operate on a special schedule that weekend :
- Friday, May 1, and Sunday, May 3: 7:00 a.m. to midnight
- Saturday, May 2: 6:00 a.m. to midnight
The #TuBiciViajaEnMetro program will also remain active on Friday, May 1, and Sunday, May 3, so you’ll be able to bring your bike on the Metro on those days.
Plan your trip in advance
The closure of Portales and Nativitas impacts one of the city’s busiest lines, so there is likely to be increased traffic at nearby stations and on alternative transportation.
If you usually use these stations, consider leaving earlier, checking parallel routes, or using the RTP. You can also choose other lines or modes of transportation depending on your destination.
