During September 2025, Museo Jumex will premiere an exhibition on the life of photographer Tina Modotti. This exhibition will mix fiction with history, resulting in a revealing experience.
The exhibition is called The Tiger’s Coat, in homage to the silent film starring Tina Modotti, Myrtle Stedman and Lawson Butt. The film was directed by Roy Clements and premiered in 1920 in Hollywood.
On September 25, the Jumex will become the perfect setting to bring together pieces of modern and contemporary art.
Get ready to see works by artists such as Edward Weston, Pati Hill, Rodrigo Hernández and Danh Vo, curated by Rodrigo Ortiz Monasterio.

Let’s remember that Modotti was not only a photographer, she was also an activist. This exhibition will reveal her life in different stages and facets, as well as emphasize the relationship between her photographs and contemporaneity.
Tina maintained close ties with Mexico. She established friendships and political affinity with some of the most important artists of the 20th century. However, the environment of the 1930s forced her to adopt a false identity.
Undoubtedly, Tina Modotti ignited mystery and intrigue around her public and personal life. The Tiger’s Coat will bring you closer to the life, legacy and challenges Tina faced.
