A little before the beginning of spring 2025 we will see a total lunar eclipse in CDMX. During this astronomical event our natural satellite will turn a reddish color and you will be able to see the whole spectacle with the naked eye!
After almost three years we will see again a total lunar eclipse in Mexico. Fortunately it is on the weekend because we will have to stay awake a little bit to see it.
What time will the total lunar eclipse be seen in CDMX?
The first thing you need to know is that the eclipse will happen between the last hours of March 13 and the first hours of Friday, March 14. We bring you all the details.
According to information from El País, this astronomical event will begin at 23:09 on March 13; while the maximum point will occur around 00:30 hours on March 14.
As we mentioned before, during this total eclipse the Moon will be red. Why is this? According to information from UNAM Global, during this astronomical phenomenon the Earth’s shadow covers the Moon. It does not leave it in darkness, but our atmosphere absorbs the green and yellow light generated by the Sun and only allows the red light to pass through.
That is why the Moon takes on this color during the eclipse. The best thing is that you can see it with the naked eye. So get your camera ready to take the best pictures.
