Following the earthquakes that occurred on June 24 in northern Venezuela, the university community has joined the solidarity effort by setting up a collection center for Venezuela at UNAM to support those affected by the earthquake.
To join the relief effort, you can donate basic supplies such as bottled water, canned food (within its expiration date), and essential personal hygiene items (soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.).
We are also accepting diapers, toiletries (toilet paper, sanitary pads), and first-aid supplies. Additionally, if you are able, you can donate hand tools for removing debris and rubble, such as wheelbarrows, crowbars, shovels, and picks.
Make a note so you don’t miss it: the UNAM Solidarity Community will be accepting these donations at the University Olympic Stadium, specifically in Parking Lot 8 (in front of the flagpoles). You can stop by from Monday, June 29, through Thursday, July 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Remember that every contribution makes a difference, so spread the word, check the list of requested supplies, and drop off your donation at the UNAM collection center for Venezuela.
We’d also like to remind you that the Topos México relief organization has set up another collection center, located in Iztapalapa. The list of requested items includes supplies for the general public, non-perishable food, and specific tools for rescue workers.
