If you like good coffee and places where there’s always something going on, Vocablo Café y Poesía is one of those spots that feels alive. For more than a decade, this café in Roma Sur has been bringing together the city’s creative community amid murals, verses, and decorated cups.
Located at Tehuantepec 72, this space founded by Areli Juárez opened 10 years ago with a clear idea: to mix art, poetry, and coffee in a friendly and unpretentious atmosphere.

It is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and has outdoor tables where you can enjoy the urban landscape while sipping your coffee.
Here, coffee is taken seriously. They work with specialty beans brought in from Veracruz and prepare well-balanced drinks with notes of piloncillo, chocolate, caramel, and vanilla. The must-try? The flat white, considered by many to be one of the best in Mexico City.
A café where poetry takes center stage
Vocablo is one of the few places in the city where poetry is not just decoration, but part of the experience. Each coffee can be accompanied by a piece of poetry, and they also organize open mic nights where the street fills with people listening to poets from the community. The next date is January 31, in case you want to save the date now.
Workshops, art, and unusual experiences

In addition to coffee, there are workshops on creative writing, barista skills, and latte art —one of the most popular—as well as screenwriting workshops and a book club to discuss favorite books.
One of their most beautiful projects is the art exchange: you bring a small piece you have made, choose another from the basket, and get a 50% discount on your drink.
They also offer Turkish coffee readings for $400 pesos, which includes coffee, a cookie, quartz, and a one-hour session.
And if you like magic, there is a typewriter with a literary mailbox to send messages to the universe for $20 pesos. The best part? The universe may also have a special message for you.
As the icing on the cake, this February 14th they will have a fairground wedding with a poetic union certificate. Because yes: at Vocablo, romance is also written.
