If the Day of the Dead brings you to Coyoacán every year, in 2026 you’ll have one more reason not to miss it. From October 30 to November 1, the “Memorias del Mictlán” craft festival will bring together Mexican artisans, producers, and entrepreneurs at 171 Francisco Sosa Ave., from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Ancestrum Casa de la Tradición Mexa is organizing this event, which draws inspiration from the visual imagery of the Day of the Dead to create an experience that showcases the culture and traditions surrounding this holiday.
What you’ll find at the festival
Over the course of the three days, you’ll discover a wide variety of artisanal and culinary products. The idea is for you to speak directly with the creators of each piece and learn about the techniques and stories behind them, rather than simply making a purchase.
Bringing the kids is a great idea, as there will be a workshop where they can decorate the iconic little sugar skulls.
Tickets cost $10 in advance and $20 on the day of the event; when you purchase your ticket, you’ll be entered into a raffle for a kit that includes products from the participating exhibitors.
Coyocán is a magical neighborhood all year round, but during October and part of November, it’s transformed by the colors, scents, and flavors of the Day of the Dead. Visiting during this time has become a tradition for both residents and tourists, so be sure to add the Memorias del Mictlán Festival to your calendar for this month.
