From June through August we can see fireflies in different forests and sanctuaries. The best places to see them are in Tlaxcala or the State of Mexico; however, there are also places to see them in Mexico City.
For example, this Friday, August 2, there will be a night tour at the Ecoguardas Environmental Culture Center ( Picacho Ajusto highway km 5.5, Ampliación Miguel Hidalgo neighborhood, Tlalpan). From 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm you will explore the place while watching fireflies.
In addition, you will learn more about the importance of caring for the biodiversity of our ecosystems.
How to register for the firefly tour in CDMX
In order to attend it is necessary to register in advance through this link. The cost is $84 and there will only be room for 180 people, so we recommend you to run to reserve your place.
We are in the middle of the rainy season so it is recommended to bring a jacket and a raincoat. Don’t forget to bring comfortable shoes because you will be walking a lot, as well as a lamp.
It is important to mention that this is the only tour organized by the Secretariat of the Environment.
Remember that to see fireflies it is important to take certain precautions so as not to disturb them and protect their habitat.
