Christmas activities in the Historic Center have finally started! Thousands of lights, snow and huge figures are already beautifying the Zócalo square for the 2024 Christmas festival.
Music will be central this Christmas. 56 musical groups will give free concerts. Some of the artists and groups that will set the mood are Regina Orozco, Los Cadetes de Linares, Los Tecolines, just to mention a few. You can check the schedule here.
Get ready to laugh with the pastorelas and shows that will be presented during all the days of the festival! There are two stages, the main one in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral and a secondary one.
There will also be a Christmas candlelight vigil where you can take shade and rest. Although, for sure, the kids’ favorite area will be the artificial snow ride.
As if that wasn’t enough, there will be three light tunnels that will be the best sets for your Christmas cards, as well as the Mexican piñatas illuminated with LED lights.
Although the events start early, the evening is an incredible time to attend as the esplanade is illuminated with the traditional Christmas lighting.
The surprises are joined by some monumental figures: three trees covered with poinsettias, a cardboard piñata measuring seven meters high and a spectacular nativity scene.
The latter gets a special mention, as it has captured the attention of the attendees due to its size and details.
The Christmas verbena in the Zócalo, ideal for buying gifts.
In addition to having fun, you will be able to stock your gift list. The event will be held at Artisans of the heart a bazaar with products from artists from Oaxaca, Chiapas, Querétaro, Tlaxcala, Mexico City and other states.
Here you will find all kinds of items: textiles, paper, wood, jewelry and other techniques. This bazaar will be held from December 15 to 30 from 10:00 to 19:00 hours.
In addition, there will be a bookstore fair of the Fondo de Cultura Económica where you will find discounts and special prices.
In a press conference, Mexico City authorities detailed that there will be a skating rink in each of Mexico City’s mayor’s offices. Which one will you go to?
