Dipping pan de muerto into warm chocolate is one of the greatest pleasures of the season. And get ready, because this delicious moment is about to begin with the Artisanal Coffee, Chocolate, and More Festival—Pan de Muerto Edition, an event that will bring together the best flavors of the Day of the Dead.
Upon arrival, you’ll find three courtyards filled with vendors offering all kinds of creations: filled versions, themed varieties, and the daring black pan de muerto with totomoxtle ash. Along the way, you’ll also find pan de muerto with sesame seeds, as well as styles representative of Puebla, Oaxaca, Guerrero, and Guanajuato.
The experience doesn’t end there, as the event will feature two food courts where you can sample everything from chipilín and poblano tamales to Poblano-style cemitas, Argentine choripanes, and chicken sandwiches with mole from San Pedro Actopan in Milpa Alta. If you’d prefer something different, try the sandwiches made with sourdough bread and Vizcaína-style cod, accompanied by delicious flower- and fruit-based beverages.
To make your visit even more entertaining, there will be a variety of cultural activities. You can participate in workshops on grinding cacao in a metate, decorating cookies, or painting ceramics to create your own catrina.
In addition, you’ll be able to witness a moving “Dance of the Carrying Mothers,” a performance where mothers will carry their babies dressed as catrines and catrinas. As if that weren’t enough, for every $200 you spend, you’ll be entered into a daily raffle to win gift baskets filled with products from the exhibitors or coffee makers.
The Artisanal Coffee, Chocolate, and More Festival—Pan de Muerto Edition— will take place on October 17 and 18 at Jalapa 38, Roma Norte, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. We remind you that admission is free, so you’ll have no excuse not to add this event to your list of plans for the 2026 Day of the Dead season.
