1. Dance class with Catrinas in the Zócalo

This Thursday, October 30, there will be a mega aerobic dance class in the Zócalo of CDMX. On the occasion of Day of the Dead, everyone will be dressed up as catrinas. There will even be free make-up starting at 2:00 pm. If you want to participate you must register in advance on this page.

2. Day of the Dead Offering in the Zócalo

One of the events of October 2025 in CDMX that you can’t miss is the monumental ofrenda in the Zócalo. This year’s theme will refer to the 700 years of Mexico Tenochtitlan. It will have figures of Xoloitzcuintle, chinampas, corn and more. The winning design is named “Encounter between voices, poems, pilgrimage, history and tradition”.

3. Exhibition of monumental alebrijes

Couldn’t make it to the monumental alebrijes parade? Don’t worry, you have a chance to see the pieces that participated. They are located between the Angel of Independence and the Estela de Luz. It’s one of the October events in CDMX that you can’t miss.

4. A Journey to Mictlán

This immersive experience is focused on Day of the Dead. Just as its name says, it will take you on a journey through the levels of the Mexica underworld. This year it will bring new attractions and many surprises.

5. Light Cycles

The Chapultepec Forest will be illuminated with an unmissable event! Light Cycles is an immersive nighttime experience that has visited several countries such as Italy, Japan and New Zealand and will arrive in CDMX for the first time! You will see five outdoor multi-sensory zones. The best thing is that you can already buy your tickets.

6. Alice in Wonderland Ballet

The Philharmonic Orchestra of the Arts and the Dance Company of the Arts prepared an unmissable show inspired by Alice in Wonderland. It is a ballet with live music; the Arts Dance Company will also participate. This is one of the October activities in CDMX that you should definitely note in your agenda.

7. Opera Cuauhtemóctzin in the Zocalo

As part of the Day of the Dead activities, the film opera Cuauhtemóctzin will be presented in the Zócalo of CDMX. During the story we will see Ysabel, who remembers part of her life, including her relationship with Cuauhtemóctzin.

8. Design Week Mexico

Everything is more than ready for the 17th edition of Design Week Mexico! This year the event will carry the slogan “Designed in Mexico” and will be focused, as its name says, on national design “as an engine of economic, social and cultural transformation”, as detailed on its official website.

9. Calaverita Bicycle Ride

This night ride is organized by Paseo de Todos CDMX, an initiative that organizes rides on the last Thursday of every month. This time it will have a Day of the Dead theme. Go get your costume ready.

10. Soy Frankelda Exhibition

The Cineteca Nacional opened an exhibition about Soy Frankelda, the first stop motion film made in Mexico. You’ll see puppets and original sets that were used for the film.

If horror experiences are your thing, you will love this event. It is a play in which a story based on real events will be told. In fact it is inspired by the time of the Holy Inquisition.

12. Titanic: a journey through time

13. Día de Muertos illuminated figures at Reforma

Looking for something to do today in CDMX? Paseo de la Reforma was illuminated with tunnels and different Day of the Dead figures. You’ll even see huge catrinas, especially at the Puerta de los Leones in Chapultepec and the Angel of Independence.

14. Day of the Dead Festival in Tláhuac

Tláhuac will have a festival with lots of activities for Day of the Dead. You’ll find workshops, plays, exhibitions and more. In addition, artists such as Salón Victoria, Natalia Jiménez, Jorge Muñiz and Fernando Delgadillo will give free concerts.

15. Cacao Para Todos Festival

The 15th edition of the Cacao Para Todos Festival will arrive in October 2025 to CDMX. In addition to activities, during the event there will be expo-sale of different products derived from cocoa.

16. Cempasúchil Route

18. Candlelight: Celebrating the Day of the Dead.

Listen to emblematic Day of the Dead themes in a candlelight concert. Talented musicians will perform live songs such as “Hasta la raíz”, “La llorona”, “Amor eterno”, “Paloma negra” and many more.

19. Altar to Frida Kahlo and Juan O’Gorman at the Casa Azul (Blue House)

The Frida Kahlo Museum set up a shared offering between Frida Kahlo and Juan O’Gorman to celebrate their connection in life. Their admiration and friendship is the theme that sets the tone for the ofrendas, each with symbolic elements of Frida and Juan, but with huge mirrors reflecting each other’s altar to symbolize their bond. This beautiful ofrenda reminds us that in friendship and in art there is always room for encounter.

20. Day of the Dead Festival in Xochimilco

22. Day of the Dead at Chapultepec Castle

As part of October’s Night of Museums, Chapultepec Castle will offer an opera concert about Day of the Dead. You will enjoy the show “El hombre que no respetó el Día de Muertos” (The man who did not respect the Day of the Dead). Space is limited to 250 people.

23. Catrinia in Atlixco, Puebla
