If you’re looking for something different, active, and free, the free dance classes at Alameda Central are for you. In the heart of the Historic Center, the kiosk in this iconic space is filled with rhythm with Cuban salsa and Afro dance sessions open to anyone who wants to learn how to move their body with flavor.
The venue is Alameda Central, one of the most iconic and popular places in the heart of the city. No previous experience is necessary, just comfortable clothes and a desire to move.
Cuban salsa with authentic flavor
On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., you can learn Cuban salsa with authentic traditional rhythms.
The classes are led by Yiliana Claudia Aleaja Zamora, known as “Kachita,” who guides the sessions so that both beginners and experienced dancers can enjoy themselves equally.
This is a great opportunity to practice basic steps, improve your coordination, and connect with other people who are also looking for free activities in the Historic Center. Plus, dancing outdoors adds a special touch to the experience.
Afro dance to fill you with energy
Before salsa, on the same Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., free Afro dance classes are given by teacher Karina Espejel Rivera.
These sessions combine physical activity and cultural expression in a community atmosphere, designed for collective well-being and energy. You don’t need any previous experience either: the dynamic is designed so that anyone can join in.
If you work, study, or simply stroll through the Historic Center, this plan is perfect for breaking up the midweek routine.
The free dance classes at Alameda Central not only promote movement, they also invite you to enjoy and take ownership of public space through rhythm and conviviality. Come and give it a try!
