This summer there are many exhibitions to see in Mexico City, including this one called “Mascareros de Guerrero, de lo tradicional y lo fantástico” (Mascareris of Guerrero, from the traditional and the fantastic). Here you will discover all about this artisan tradition.

This new exhibition is located in the Cristina Payán hall of the Museo Nacional de Culturas Populares (📍avenida Hidalgo 289, esquina Allende, colonia Del Carmen, Coyoacán). It is composed of more than 200 pieces from this venue and from the collections Máscaras Tradicionales de Guerrero El Calehual and Máscaras Mexicanas Víctor Zamora.
It is an exhibition full of art and color that represents the work of more than 50 artisans from Guerrero. Each piece comes with a small card explaining the name of the piece as well as the materials in which it was made.
The Museo Nacional de Culturas Populares is one of the must-see museums of Coyoacán. As its name implies, its main mission is to document and disseminate the popular cultures of our country.
