Below, we’ll present a couple of routes recommended by the resort. Departure points are from the North Bus Terminal and Mexico City International Airport (AICM).
Departing from the Northern Bus Terminal:
- Board a bus heading to the municipality of Ixmiquilpan, Hidalgo.
- Upon arrival, take public transportation toward the Morelos Market; get off after crossing it and locate the San Antonio parking lot.
- From there, board the minibus that goes directly to the Tolantongo Caves.
This trip will take approximately 4.5 hours and cost around $300 per person (one-way), including the bus and minibus.
From AICM:
- Your departure point can be from Terminals 1 or 2; take a bus heading to Pachuca, Hidalgo.
- At the Pachuca bus station, you’ll need to board another bus, but this time to Ixmiquilpan.
- Then, take a shared taxi heading toward the Morelos Market and get off once you cross it.
- Walk to the San Antonio parking lot and board the minibus heading to the Tolantongo Caves.
This trip could cost you around $550 (one-way) and take about four hours to arrive.

Tolantongo to Ixmiquilpan.
Monday through Sunday: 7:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m.
