In Tlatelolco’s Plaza de las Tres Culturas there will be a Day of the Dead mega ofrenda. The altar will be inspired by the cosmovision of Mictlán, with monumental figures and more.
This 2025 Mexico City offers a lot of Day of the Dead activities, including large format ofrendas.
There will be altars in the capital’s Zócalo, in addition to other points in the city, such as Deportivo Xochimilco, Parque Tezozómoc, Parque del Mestizaje, Mixquic and Plaza de las Tres Culturas.
The Tlatelolca Citizen Council confirmed that the installation will be named “Camino del Mictlán” and will be inspired by the nine spheres of the underworld. You will also see a giant sculpture made by artist Cristobal Ochoa; it will be dedicated to life, death and eternity.
Be amazed by the structure that interprets the Huei Tzompantli, an altar of skulls dedicated to Huitzilopochtli during pre-Hispanic times.
Also participating will be the Barrio Originario Tepito – Amaxac collective, who will pay tribute to the feast of the dead, known as Miccailhuitl.
When can I see the mega ofrenda in Tlatelolco?
The exhibition will be available from October 31 to November 2, as announced by the Mexico City Government. Please note that the grand opening will take place on Friday 31, at 5:00 pm.
Other Day of the Dead activities at the Plaza de las Tres Culturas

And don’t forget to bring a photograph of a loved one who has passed away, or a symbolic figure of a xoloescuincle; you can add them to the offering!
