The call for the 16th edition of Desfile y Concurso de Alebrijes Monumentales del MAP has finally been published. This event will fill the CDMX with colors; artisans and artists from Mexico will create amazing characters to show them in the most important areas of the city.
The parade will begin at 🕛 12:00 (October 19) at the 📍 Zócalo and will culminate at the Angel de la Independencia. The route includes 5 de Mayo, Juarez and Paseo de la Reforma avenues.
In this show you will be able to see floats that will present monumental pieces, up to 2.60 meters high! It is one of the most important events in Mexico City, as it gathers thousands of people eager to see the new creations.
Don’t worry if you can’t attend the parade, you can still see the alebrijes on Paseo de la Reforma. You will appreciate every detail of the pieces and you will even be able to take pictures with them. This exhibition will be available from 📅 20:00 on October 19 until November 3, 2024.
About the MAP’s Monumental Alebrijes Parade and Competition
If you are an artisan and you want to participate with a creation, you should know that the official guidelines will be published on June 28th on the official website of the Museum of Popular Art. Up to ten people can participate in the elaboration of each piece, gather your team!
There will be 💰 economic prizes for first ($70,000), second ($50,000) and third place ($40,000), as well as 10,000 pesos to eleven of the works that receive mention. The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 26. You can consult more info here.
