The Michelin Guide has already launched its 2025 list of recommendations and Tacos de Canasta Los Especiales was not left out. If you are from the CDMX, you surely know them: they are the very first tacos de canasta on Madero Street!
They are located very close to the capital’s Zócalo. The line of people at the entrance is a real eye-catcher; hungry diners waiting to enjoy one of the most representative recipes of the area.
Although Los Especiales was mentioned in the recommendations, it did not receive an Estrella. It is worth mentioning that this is not the only taqueria recommended, but they are the first Michelin basket tacos.
How much do the tacos de canasta recommended by Michelin 2025 cost?
Each piece costs $9 and there are chicharrón in adobo or green sauce, beans and potato. Before entering you will be given tokens (which you exchange for money) and later you exchange them for your tacos.
These lie in huge baskets, or rather basket-shaped pots, to keep them warm.
At the back of the place is the dining room, where you will probably have to share a table with other diners. In this area you can add guacamole and cabbage to your dish.
More about the Michelin Guide
On June 3, the list of restaurants in the Guide was revealed. All of the 2024 award winners maintained their recognition this year, plus a few more were added to the list for CDMX and Mexico.
After the ceremony there was catering where some of the winners served their signature preparations. Of course, we had tacos from Los Especiales.
If you also want to know what they are all about, you can try them at Francisco I. Madero 71, Centro Histórico. Their service hours: Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 22:00 and Sunday from 9:00 to 18:00.
