For many years, it has been a tradition to eat tamales on February 2, Candlemas Day. Therefore, in order to promote Mexican cuisine, several events focused on tamales will be held in Mexico City.
When will the Tamale Fair in Tláhuac take place in 2026?
The Tláhuac mayor’s office has announced that this gastronomic event will take place from January 31 to February 2. It will be a weekend full of all kinds of tamales.
It will be held on the Hidalgo walkway and the esplanade of the Tláhuac mayor’s office kiosk. This is the third edition of the fair. Every year, there are must-try recipes, so mark your calendars. You will enjoy sweet, green, mole, and other more exotic flavors of tamales. It is a great opportunity to try the wide variety of this dish.
Tamale fairs in Mexico City in 2026
Another of Mexico City’s boroughs that will hold a tamale event is Iztapalapa, which will take place from January 30 to February 2 in the Macroplaza. In previous editions, up to 100 different recipes have been presented.
On the other hand, the National Museum of Popular Cultures will hold its traditional Tamale Fair from January 29 to February 2. You can visit it from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission to the event is free, while tamales will be sold at different prices.
