The first thing you need to know is that the opening match of the 2026 World Cup will be played at the Mexico City Stadium. We’ll see the Mexican National Team take on South Africa. Activities will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, with the opening ceremony, while the match will kick off around 1:00 p.m.
Where can you watch the opening match of the 2026 World Cup in Mexico City?
There will be several options. The FIFA Fan Festival will take place in Mexico City’s Zócalo, where you’ll not only watch the first match of the 2026 World Cup but also enjoy a free concert by Banda El Recodo. Admission is free but space is limited, so be sure to arrive early.
