We started the month of June with different communiqués from some museums in Mexico City announcing their closure until further notice. However, today, June 5, it has been announced that all the museums belonging to the INAH network of museums are once again open on their regular schedule.
It all started when on June 3, 2025 different cultural precincts administered by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) announced their closure until further notice through social networks.
This closure occurs after INAH announced on Sunday, June 1, that it would change the security person. They went from the Auxiliary Police of the CDMX to the private company SSS Asistencia Y Supervisión S.A. DE C.V.
It also announced in a press release that it lacks auxiliary police, which would affect the opening of cultural spaces, since without the presence of security personnel, museums cannot operate normally.
