The Museo de Arte Popular (MAP) is premiering an exhibition called “Between threads and grains”, which has three elements of our culture as protagonists: corn, the shawl and even the errand bag. Something that distinguishes this exhibition is that each piece is made of glass.
Through this exhibition, the artist Caya Ponce seeks to make a tribute to everyday life using three items that we all know very well and that even bring us many memories.
This is what you will see in the exhibition Among Threads and Grains: A Tale of Identity
The exhibition is composed of 22 pieces, which seek to portray the beauty of everyday life. Let yourself be surprised by the details, the transparency of the glass and the bright colors.
As explained in the museum, the pieces invite reflection and interpretation, as they will connect with the history and personal experiences of each of the visitors. One of the pieces you will see is called “Corn, reflection of our identity”, which was developed with the sculptor Antonio Castellanos Basich.
You can visit the exhibition from now until April 27, 2025. It is located in the Pieza del Mes room of the Museo de Arte Popular ( Revillagigedo 11, corner Independencia, Centro Histórico de la CDMX). Admission is $60; however, on Sundays admission is free.
The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00 hours. It is worth mentioning that currently it also has an unmissable exhibition on kites.
