The best pulquerias in Mexico City will gather this weekend. Los Pinos Cultural Complex will host Pulqueras de Mayahuel, a festival where you will taste natural and cured pulque.
You will meet women who research and undertake projects around magueys and pulque. There are more than 50 exhibitors who will give workshops, tastings and open lectures on topics such as the importance of maguey and corn in the food culture.
Of course you will taste cured meats of many flavors and pulque brought from different regions. Some of the participating pulquerias are: El tlachique de la bruja, Sol de lluvia and Pulqueria de Barrio Texcoco, just to mention a few.
Bring a lot of hunger because you will find some delicacies such as cecina from Yecapixtla, dishes from Tlaxcala and emblematic preparations of the chinampera cuisine of Xochimilco.
Have you already received your Christmas bonus? You will surely want to spend it in the bazaar area; there will be textiles, cocoa, honey, Huichol art, embroidery, books and much more.
It’s worth noting that the pulque festival at Los Pinos is family friendly, so don’t hesitate to bring your partner, friends or kids. In fact, there will be activities for children such as storytelling, singing in Nahuatl or painting wafers with chocolate.
We remind you that Tlachiqueras de Mayahuel will be during 📆 December 7 and 8 from 🕛 10:00 to 17:30 at 📍 Calzada del Rey s/n, Bosque de Chapultepec I Sección, Miguel Hidalgo. Are you going to miss it?
