Next August 31 will officially open the Santa Fe station of the Interurban Train, after some tests on this new section. Such opening will bring some changes to this mode of transport. Take note.
As you well know, the Interurban Train began operations in a first section on September 15, 2023. Now one more station will be added to the route, which means that it will be possible to go from CDMX to the State of Mexico.
Station of the Interurban Train in Santa Fe and new costs
The Santa Fe station is located between the Mexico Toluca Highway and Vasco de Quiroga Avenue, just on the east side of the Santa Fe Shopping Center. It will have 11 escalators, as well as a lobby area, interchange and platform. It will be accessible by vehicle or on foot.
Outside this station, passengers will find three RTP routes, which will have as their destination:
- Metro Auditorio
- Parque Bombilla
- Metro Balderas
In addition there will be concessioned transportation for Santa Fe Avenue, Carlos Lazo and Javier Sierra.
What will the service be like on the Interurban Train from August 31?
With the opening of the Santa Fe station there will be some changes, such as an increase in the number of trains in operation and a decrease in waiting time. At a press conference, it was explained that 8 trains will now operate with a capacity of 719 passengers each.
The maximum speed will be 120 km/hour, while the average speed will be 78 km/hour. The frequency between trains will be 10 minutes and this means of transport will be accessible by QR code or with the integrated mobility card.
The cost of the ticket will be different and according to the section you travel. That is why you will have to show your card or QR code when entering and leaving this means of transport. The price will range from $15 to $90. This will be the cost per tranche:
- Santa Fe – Lerma: $60
- Santa Fe – Metepec: $70
- Santa Fe – Toluca Centro: $80
- Santa Fe – Zinacantepec: $90
- Lerma – Metepec: $15
- Lerma – Toluca Centro: $20
- Lerma – Zinacantepec: $20
- Metepec – Toluca downtown: $15
- Metepec – Zinacantepec: $20
- Toluca Centro – Zinacantepec: $15
The travel time from Santa Fe to Zinacantepec will be 37 minutes. This is the second stage of the Interurban Train; the Vasco de Quiroga and Observatorio stations are still under construction and are expected to be ready by the end of 2024.
All stations from Santa Fe to Zinacantepec will be open from Monday to Sunday on a 🕛timetable from 6:00 to 23:00.
