It’s a fact! These licenses will return in November 2024; however, not everyone will be able to obtain them. We tell you which drivers will not be able to get a permanent driver’s license in CDMX. Take note.
In a press conference, authorities of the Government of Mexico City informed how the process and requirements for the permanent license in CDMX will be.
The process will be open to drivers who already have a license, as well as to those who are just applying for their license for the first time. But be careful: there are some restrictions that you must take into account.
These drivers will not be able to apply for a permanent driver’s license in CDMX.
According to authorities, there are two situations in which you will not be able to apply for this permanent license:
- Having a sentence for a crime associated with a traffic accident.
- Having sanctions from the breathalyzer (program Conduce sin Alcohol).
The rest of the drivers will be able to apply for the permanent driver’s license. Even those who have had their license for more than three years will be able to apply for the permanent license automatically.
Now, what about new drivers? Well, in that case they will have to take a test which, for the moment, will be theoretical and can be taken at the modules of the Secretariat of Mobility of Mexico City, as well as at the Pillars.
The permanent license will cost $1,500. It is not yet known from what day the process will be available; however, it will be announced later. It was only announced that you will be able to do it from November 2024 to December 2025.
