Sculptures by Ángela Gurría make up Signals, the new exhibition at Bellas Artes

new exhibition! From 📅September 12 you can see sculptures by artist Ángela Gurría at the Palacio de Bellas Artes. It’s called “Signals” and it’s a tour where you’ll see around 160 pieces; from marble and iron works, to watercolor paintings.

Here you will learn about the career of the sculptor, who is one of the pioneers of modern sculpture in Mexico. Among the most outstanding works is her participation in la Ruta de la Amistad, as well as the tribute to Tlaloc found in the Sistema Cutzamala.

In the “Landscapes” room you will find amazing pieces; you will surely be captivated by the aluminum and bronze discs that were edited by Ángela together with her cousins. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most captivating spaces of the exhibition.

Get your camera ready because you’ll want to take lots of pictures. You’ll be amazed at the versatility of materials from which the pieces were made. Keep an eye on the use of geometric shapes and the butterfly symbol in their creations. 🦋

You can also contemplate a portrait that the painter Juan O’Gorman made for the artist. It should be noted that this character not only influenced her work, but also became one of her greatest friends.

This exhibition will remain in the National and Diego Rivera halls 📅 until January 12, 2025. Remember that general admission costs 💵 $90, but on Sundays access is free. You can visit this museum from 🕛 Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
