Mexico City has plenty of activities to keep the little ones entertained, but they aren’t always affordable. That’s why we’ve put together this list of free places in Mexico City that are perfect for visiting with kids. You won’t have to spend your savings to have fun! Take note.

This new complex in Mexico City features a go-kart track, a semi-Olympic-sized pool, and even a dinosaur area—all free of charge. The main attraction is its race track, exclusively for teenagers (ages 13 to 17 who are at least 1.60 meters tall) accompanied by an adult who must present their INE.
Beyond the asphalt, the complex features padel, tennis, and soccer courts, a pump track, illuminated fountains, and a mini-golf course.
Bank of Mexico Museum
Childhood is the perfect time to learn what money is for. At this museum, kids can see the vault, the numismatic collection, and learn about the functions of the Central Bank. Every month, you’ll find different exhibits, workshops, and more. There are interactive areas and even a spot where they can see a banknote featuring their own face.
Bicentennial Park
No list of free places in Mexico City would be complete without this park, which welcomes kids of all ages. In addition to its impressive green spaces, all kinds of play areas await you: sandboxes, playground equipment, a bike path, and more. There are also sports areas, such as basketball and volleyball courts. 🏃🏽
This is one of the iconic free places to visit with kids in Mexico City. At the Chapultepec Zoo, the little ones can see mammals, snakes, a butterfly garden, and even penguins. Keep in mind that it tends to get crowded on weekends.
Do you know any little ones with an ’80s soul? Take them to this Star Wars-inspired museum! It features collectible toys, lightsabers, busts, spaceships, and more—around 6,000 pieces in total! They also host fan events like conferences and meetups. 🌟
Mini Sunday
The Jumex Museum stands out not only for promoting contemporary art but also for inviting kids to explore its spaces and exhibitions. 🎨
It offers a program called “Mini Sunday,” where children participate in artistic activities related to a specific theme or one of the current exhibitions. You can find out what’s happening this Sunday on their website.
Among the free places to visit with kids in Mexico City, this interactive museum at UNAM is a must-see. Here, the little ones will see a collection of wood specimens and learn about vertebrate animals; let them be amazed by the mushroom exhibit and let their imaginations run wild in the digital library. 🦋
On the Utopía Boat, in the Iztapalapa borough, there’s a digital aquarium where kids can learn about marine species, climate change, and much more—all through a navigation simulator and other must-see attractions. It’s located in the Venustiano Carranza borough and features statues of characters like Yoda, Darth Vader, R2D2, and Chewbacca. This venue is one of Iztapalapa’s most recent cultural openings. The Yancuic Museum is an immersive museum where kids can learn about climate change and ecosystems—all through interactive installations, immersive experiences, workshops, and more. 🦍
Bosque de Aragón
This forest is the perfect place to have fun outdoors. The Bosque de Aragón features attractions like a zoo and a children’s play area. But the best part is that every month there’s a schedule of activities that includes tours, workshops, talks, and even children’s storytime. Keep in mind that the schedule is posted on social media. 🌳

Step aside, Jurassic Park! This theme park is home to various life-size dinosaurs, complete with movement and sound. During your tour, you’ll see and learn more about these enormous animals.

The fourth section of Chapultepec Forest is a great option for keeping the kids entertained on weekends. On Saturdays and Sundays, there are workshops for different age groups at the Ermita Vasco de Quiroga. They also offer literary readings, exhibitions, and even concerts.

If you’re looking for activities for kids and adults alike, then you should check out the Los Pinos Cultural Complex. Every weekend, it has plenty to offer, including exhibitions, workshops, music, and art. Sometimes there are also movie screenings and culinary experiences. 🌲
It’s a new space in Mexico City dedicated to axolotls and amphibians. The idea is to promote the care of these animals, as well as the ecosystem where they live. Kids and adults alike will learn more about this little creature and even get to see it in person. You can visit from Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
